Good to be back on grass however I think that may have worked in the oppositions favour as they were not very good technically but strong and physical which.

This was a very good test for our young guns and they were more than a match winning 2-1.

Missing our attacking triangle of Nolan, Moss and Barski up front but you would never have known as Obeid Soge on the left, Jonny Hession on the right and a lightening quick Asian lad (MOM for me) up front kept their experienced defenders on their toes.

The same midfield trio of Brooks, Mahoney and Jepson worked tirelessly throughout and seem to be working up a really good understanding of each others game.

The back line were pretty comfortable in the first half although struggled to contain the visitors pacey forwards when they went a little more direct in the last twenty minutes or so but the lads kept them out.

Leech looking better as each game is played and Szmidt very calm and composed. Both centre halves on the score-sheet.

Young left back Luke finally got a start and didn't disappoint as he was marking the quickest player on the pitch. He's a big lad and when he learns to use all of his strength he could make that position his own as he grows in confidence.

Get the captain back fit and these boys could be going places.

The substitutions weakened the team tonight but I do not blame the management as players were missing.

The only negative for tonight was the keeper, Curtis. A very impressive lad but their is a very fine line on a pitch between encouragement and abuse. He was very over critical of several of his own players tonight, unjustly in my opinion, which is not good for team morale. Nobody makes mistakes on purpose and the last thing they need is someone bellowing it out at the top of their voice - he should let the coaches do the coaching.

All in all a pleasing performance, good game to watch and good result.

4th would be excellent J considering 1st season together, particularly at this level.
