Community day
In the interview Mark Fell said "we won't feel the benefits of over 200 people coming down for the Community day until next season."
Quite right Mark but why not have another community day at the start of the season?

Re: Community day
Absolutely agree Phillip, the chairman was saying there's a couple of big friendlies already arranged (bigger than last year) and that they had had some success in having a presence in town before the game giving leaflets out etc
Re: Community day
19th of July would be a good date if the club want to organise an inter schools competition.
3 days before schools break up and 2 weeks before the start of next season.
Did he say who we might be playing? Have we got a game against Burnley?
That would bring a few down. There are a lot of Burnley fans in and around Nelson and it's very rare to see any of them watch Nelson when Burnley are away.

Re: Community day
No names given no afraid not, would be great to see Burnley down, I'd be suprised if there isn't a friendly on 19th July , 2 weekends before start of season
Re: Community day
Great effort and Great turn out and a Great match.
Agreed - should do one at the start of next season and with better weather who knows??!!
I think an all expenses paid visit to Real Madrid is long over due!
The only problem getting bigger clubs than Accrington is the quality of squad they would bring which can dilute the occasion, I would be over the moon if James Beattie brought his first teamers again as it was a great day and a good competitive match apart from the two gift wrapped goals we gave them and he showed our club tremendous respect for fielding mainly a first team.
I don't think either Blackburn or Burnley would do that, it would be mainly their U21's however I suppose we would get a good gate.

Re: Community day
I think the Accrington thing is an agreed annual event now, I'd like to see some of the bigger non-league clubs who would bring a following, Chester, Halifax, FC United etc etc.
Credit to the club, these things are not easy to organise, would be interesting to know if financially the club made similar money from the other outlets (bar etc) as they would if they charged on the gate

Re: Community day
Yes good idea about FC United J they would definitely swell the gate considerably.
I know all food and beer went on Saturday but I suppose it would be very difficult to second guess the size of following from these teams in order to cater for them. and return max profit.
I suppose it is just easier with gate receipts and match-day programme.
I agree credit the club - growing in stature is difficult to do when you have money let alone without and this season our reputation has certainly grown.
