Improved performance against Bacup Empty Improved performance against Bacup

This was a much improved performance over that debacle in Chorlton on Saturday and a scoreline of 2 - 0 somewhat flattered the team from Rossendale. I cannot recall Ben having to do anything in the first half other than clear back passes and in the second there was only a couple of saves to be made. A clean sheet is very welcome and shows that the defence, strengthened by the signing of Andrew Mason, performed admirably in stark contrast to the last game.

Nelson had a shed load of chances in both halves a number of which the Bacup keeper kept out with some outstanding saves. On another day it would have been six or seven but the most important thing was to secure the win. Onwards to Bootle at the weekend who have just gone down 4 - 1 to Maine Road. That should be a good test of where we are given that both teams on Saturday have lost to the same opponents.
