Nelson Vs Cheadle Empty Nelson Vs Cheadle

This will be most peoples first opportunity to see the new striking duo of Peter Wright & Richie Allen.

Maybe a few goals and hopefully a clean sheet!

This would be a great time to show the league our intensions. Early goal and this could be our biggest win of the season.

Sounds like that was a bit tight! 3 points none the less tho and first time we've been top of the league under this management, well done to all concerned. Any story from the game?

Game of 2 halfs, Nelson dominant 1st period, game then got scrappy which suited Cheadle more. Poor goal to concede, reckon there's couple of defenders still missing for Nelson. Wright clearly top class at this level, 2 in 2 for him.

Suppose the real test comes Wednesday night, all aboard to Burscough

A very good 3 points today against a strong well organised outfit. Thought Richie should have been MoM as he showed his class today even when he dropped into midfield. Still seem to lack pace at back making us look vulnerable when we push out. Still the clean sheet eludes us but feel like it is coming. Good team performance never the less.

Wouldn't say they're a good side, Formby will be miles better than that.

I keep saying we need to strengthen the defence.

We could easily have conceded 3 rather than 1.

Two good full backs would be useful.

Never seen the left back Murphy have a good 90 minutes, Finch is a centre back playing at right back isn't he?

While I don't disagree that Formby will be tough opposition - The current table suggests otherwise.
Formby were quality last year however playing at home early on does not give them any advantage
in their temp home. Also lost their prolific striker which makes a massive difference.

Out of all the games I have seen this season and I've only missed Atherton away, Cheadle have been the better organised particularly at the back.
Their main weakness was the right footed left back.

Given our new look strike force I think on paper we could now be the strongest team in the league.

Wednesday will give us the answer.

Just had a gander at the table, we've best goal difference with +7. Conceded 8 in 6 games, only teams to have conceded less are Hanley and Darwen with 7 each.

Agree there is no better time to play Formby, win Wednesday and there is no doubt of our ability to go up this year.

I would expect Irlam to be similar to Cheadle, so if this week brought 9 points from 9 it would have been an excellent August for the Blues

I still don't believe we have fully grown as a team with so many new faces but unlike previous seasons we are finishing teams off now. Where we struggled to get a two goal advantage at Atherton and Chadderton and new lads not arrived and Berry getting injured after only one game we had no one to put ball in net.

New lads arrive and we concede only one goal in both of last two matches. Berry, Brooks and Eaton all back from injury and Stockers and Lloyd back off holiday and the future is looking Orange - Burnt Orange.

Good pre season set us up nicely for this season and when these boys start really clicking someone is going to get an absolute hammering.

I know there is a lot of football to be played before we can even think of promotion however I think opposition need to stop us rather than us worry about them. 4 wins out of 6 from an extremely young team that will only get better.

Exciting times ahead - I'm sure of it.

It's a shame but I suppose some had to go with the new arrivals and we have plenty of midfielders at present.

Just afew words on the Cheadle game in response to some of the above comments.

you say cheadle werent a good side? well in that case in the second half we were that piss poor we made them look good.

dont get your hopes up for 9 points this week, the best we can hope for is 6. I think we will lose at Formby unless the fullbacks are sorted

and we may also struggle to get 3 pts against Irlam for the same reason.

Happy days!!
