Getting left behind Empty Getting left behind

Where do we go from here, except down!
The Darwen game was one that was a must win.
The players didn't seem up for the fight whereas Darwen were really motivated and determined to get a result.
Its time to really take stock and clear out the ones that aren't interested and get players who are willing to fight for every ball, as that's what it will take if we are to avoid the drop.
Would the manager care to make a statement on our current plight and what he intends to do to remedy the situation?

Getting left behind Empty Darwen game.

Just a few thoughts on Tuesdays game. Why were we not up for it? We might not have many players that are good enough but we should at least show some character. We have no leaders and the midfield is non existent. I am afraid that this is what happens when the budget is slashed .

Budget slashed? Just signed Jason Hart, suggests there is plenty of money around....

Fact of the matter is it's another crazy managerial appointment, club could have sorted this 18 months ago

18 months ago we had Mark Fell as manager.

After he left we appointed Paul Fildes as manager, whether you think he was a good or bad appointment the fact a club the size of Ramsbottom took him off us says something. We couldn't compete in terms of the budget and level they could offer and so he chose to join them so we had to replace him. A lot of people praised us for appointing Phil Eastwood but it clearly didn't work how we all hoped and with 4 points from 10 league games we had to make a tough decision. Obviously it wasn't the right appointment and we've had to try to rebuild in the aftermath of that.

We've backed Alex Norwood who has always been viewed as our preference to be long term manager of the football club because we rate him so highly. He's an outstanding coach, he genuinely cares about the club and he's got great contacts and is well respected within football. He's had a tough job of putting together a brand new squad in 2 months in which time he's got twice as many points in the league as the previous manager and got us into the quarter finals of the league cup. He's kept in general a settled squad with a mix of young talent and experienced players and has made a number of astute signings in recent weeks. Now we have to hope the team can get the points we need to stay up.

I'd have thought supporters would give Alex a chance,  especially given what he inherited. He's an outstanding coach and works so hard for the club. We all know we weren't good enough on Tuesday night and it was a massive blow, it's down to players to put that right. But if anyone saw us against Colls, Hanley or Ashton Athletic in the second half I'm sure you would agree there is qaulity and a good work ethic in the team.  The key thing now is consistency.

As for budgets being slashed, that couldn't be further from the truth. We pretty much doubled the budget in the summer and that's remained the same all season. Regarding statements from the manager, he has programme notes in the programme every home match that give his view on things.

Sorry Adam, but why are we paying good money to an overweight striker ,when it is obvious that we have a poor midfield and a weak defense,if we keep conceding goals at this rate we have no hope!

By overweight striker I assume you are talking about Jason Hart who to me does not look fully match fit, however he is a proven talent who knows where the back of the net is.
The strike duo of Jason & Ives is arguably the most potent in this league but it is vital that they get good service. An experienced midfield general is needed to provide this with the younger, talented, players benefiting from the leadership a general can provide.

Prior to the disappointing result against Darwen, in all matches over 90 minutes our record was W2 D5 L1.
That record is significantly better that the first 8 matches this season.
With just another couple of additions and an injection of determination we might just turn it around.

Jay didnt look overweight yesterday when he scored and got man of the match. Worked his bollocks off too and will get sharper as games go by.Mark Sharples was excellent yesterday in midfield gives us good experience and composure in the middle of the park. He's also very good in the dressing room with the younger players too.

We're in a difficult position but we have to be positive and back the players, in other news this weekends results saw our U16s move to 2nd in the league, U18s go 2nd too and Ladies up to 3rd. Plus we are in the Qaurter Finals of the league cup with a great draw at home to look forward to. Couple of wins in the league on the bounce I'd back the first team to go on a run with the team we've now got.

Hope you are right Adam.
Looking forward to a great win on Saturday. Might silence the negativity.
