Formby....
Deserves it's own thread, awful performance in a key game. If Kilford is the answer we are in trouble, although the referee absolutely awful.
Defensive shambles, Formby will be champions again there is no doubt of that. As for us, all of a sudden if we lose on Boxing Day, which is possible, we could find ourselves in the mire.
Waste of a day , back onto the ale

Re: Formby....
Take stock - top at Xmas, colls and Holker become bigger games, some positives from today, not many but some.

Re: Formby....
On reflection, Lloyd our best player apparently in November... Bombed today? Yet both full backs had a nightmare? Team selection right Mark? Worst I've seen Grimes and he was man of the match, Ritchie completely disinterested. We got all these star players but are they really up for the fight? Adnan wouldn't put a tackle in to save his life and Saceel on wing has little quality, just runs and runs! Substitutes that came on probably best of the bunch.
We got an almighty let off from Rochdale Town and I don't think 1874 will stay the course, so actually not much harm done but a hugely wasted opportunity.

Re: Formby....
Kilford was quite woeful, clearly long past his best. He looked like he had not been on a football pitch all season.
I was halfway through composing a tweet which went
"Kilford awful, take him off put Lloyd on at right back, Hoskin into midfield and Ahmed to centre back"
Then the ref had a brainstorm and sent Kilford off for "tit ball".
Couldn't send my tweet then could I.
With the way Formby played it might not have made any difference but 11 against 11 would have been a better spectacle. If we could have got to half time only one down with a full complement of players who knows what would have happened.
The ref was a 'mare, both sides agreed on that, unfortunately it won't be the last time we get poor officials. Our management team need to temper their frustrations and conduct themselves with a little more dignity. Leave the ref slagging to the fans.

Re: Formby....
Bang on Philip with regard to shifting the players around - Lloyd should clearly have started and would have been marking a lad just come from their youth team. As you say, Hoskin in to midfield where we could have seen his drive, energy and intelligence and is also on the same wave length as Grimesy.
Never seen new signing play before but was not at same pace as everyone else meaning chaos ensued from first whistle.
Ritchie gave ball away quite a lot in silly areas resulting in a wave of counter attacks leaving our full backs vulnerable particularly on our left. Finch was exceptional when we were down to 10 men and thank god again for Ben Woodhead.
I do buy into what Mark is trying to do at Nelson however I am sure he will realise that, form rather than name, is what should merit a players selection in any football team even in the big games.
The positives are that we played far better once the substitutions were made and with ten men than we did at the start with eleven.
Disappointing for sure but not the end of the world as we know we are much better than that. Hopefully fired up more for Holker after this big wake up call.
Holker here we come.

Re: Formby....
Lloyd was left out because they terrorised him at their place in the last 4-0, made no difference they terrorised both Hoskin and Hodgkiss this time round, they are excellent in the wide areas.
Mark has a temper, no doubt about it, but is probably right in what he's saying, just goes about it the wrong way.
Just a bad day all round, non of them turned up, Ritchie was dreadful in possession, Sak poor - will be an interesting selection come Thursday

Re: Formby....
That gents is what pressure does to you... Everyone around the league believes Nelson are spending massive money in a bid to get out of the league. My personal understanding is 1874 and Formby both pay more than Nelson, but generally no smoke without fire and Mark must be feeling the heat that this may be the only chance he'll get if he has such a budget to work with.
Re: Formby....
George is back for next game.
Don't know how much Nelson are spending but I believe the manager has to win two promotions in three years.

Re: Formby....
I'm not having that he's under any pressure from the club at all, probably only from himself. who would Nelson get that's any better?
