Widnes vikings away
Looking forward to a trip to a new ground, no doubt very strange with a big echo , our managers ramblings are loud enough without reverberating off the empty stands! :-)

What, you mean that Nelson aren't going to fill the ground?

Enjoyed my trip to Widnes, good performance as well. Mahoney is big and strong and effective. Another 6 goals scored and the points are on the board. The O'Neill brothers excellent I thought, Grimes a man possessed.
Onwards to Wednesday where I hear there will be lots of changes against Holker.

A solid performance on a very fast and bouncy 3G surface which in fairness is designed for Rugby League rather than football. Six - nil flattered Nelson somewhat who were the better team but not 6 goals better.
Still a win is a win and goal difference might end up being important in the final analysis.
And most pleasingly another clean sheet for Nelsons "poor" defence. Come on Bob, credit where it's due!

That's 3 clean sheets in the last 6 games.

Re: Widnes vikings away
I couldn't work out if Widnes were that bad (given their current position in the league) or if we were that good. One things for sure, we coped better with the weather conditions and the artificial surface.
As the wind dropped for the 2nd half we got it down and played football which brought Mahoney more into the game. I thought he was off the pace somewhat in the 1st half although he isn't used to how we play and believe that was his first game for quite a while but he made up for that in the 2nd half as he became more dominant. A very good debut.
I think on another day we really could have had double figures as Widnes looked short of ideas on how to break down our blue wall of a defence. All four at the back including Ben were again very solid.
Good to see Matty O'Neill return from injury and back in the thick of the action immediately with his marauding runs directly at their defence that really opened them up for others to exploit - Robert Grimes in particular, Man of the Match by a country mile and more - forever the willing runner and put himself into great positions in the box on many occasions capping it off with two very well taken goals.
Very good performance by everyone and superb result given the pressures that will grow as the season draws to a close.
We are certainty's for promotion make no mistake about that but would be brilliant if we won the championship. As we know that is down to Formby (at the moment) however I am very confident that they will drop unexpected silly points somewhere but they will be promoted with us.
Another very pleasing thing for me was that the loyal band of supporters continue to travel and show their allegiance.
